Finally some hardcore

Take a listen in the Clients frame and you'll hear the guys in Earn Your Place rip it up. I got the opportunity to attend the mastering session done by Chuck, and came back to Windsor a better person... or something. Anyways, turned out nice and loud.

Mesa Recto!

I finally got an email saying that my long-awaited Mesa Recto 4x12 cab had arrived at the music shop. Who wants to be the first to crank it?

The Painted Birds

Once again, head on over to the Clients frame and scroll on down till you see The Painted Birds.
The Painted Birds
I was in a band with Josh back in the day, and he moved out to BC and joined this amazing band. When he came back to Windsor his band was looking for a quick demo session, and the song on this site is one of the results. It was done all live off the floor in true 'band' form. These guys put on a fantastic show, so be sure to head over to the next Venue they play at! I'm sure they will be back in town at some point in their busy touring career.

If you guys read this, thanks for coming out to Windsor and hanging out in the studio for the day.

Updates and upgrades!

All of the pix on this site... OLD! Not really, but the studio looks a lot different than the pics show. There is now a larger playing area, the rack has a bunch of the newer gear, the carpet you see is being replaced completely with hardwood (finally!), and a bunch of other things are different. For example... that little Marshall 1/2 stack has been replaced with a blazing JCM 2000 rig. Mesa cab is on the way as well ;)

Ok what else... o yea, the Clients frame has some new fancy media players next to all the artists currently up there. Just click play and it'll load the songs and go! If you see a little arrow beside the name of the song, you can click it and another song by that client will play. I'm having trouble with it in Firefox... but o well. Better than putting downloadable MP3 files linked straight to the page (tends to piss off the artists).

Finally, some new audio will be posted soon for a few other local bands. And more metal is in the works from an unknown band that write some DAMN good tunes.

This is what happens when the studio is being renovated and I have a lot of time to do nothing after work... I update this site. I should do it more often. DA was right.

New Pricing!

You can view the new pricing scheme in the Rates section. We felt it would allow a wider audience of clients to have access to the facility without making anyone worry about 'watching the clock' or running out of cash 1/2 way through a project.
Also, there has been some and acoustic work in the facility to give it a better vibe and feel, and to more importantly... sound top-notch. Hopefully some new pics will be posted soon.

Remix for Metal

Check out the Clients section and scroll down to Hotel Red if you like some metal in the morning. The tune was re-tracked a bit (just guitars and bass), remixed, and mastered by Chuck Carvalho in TO. Goes to show what some great gear and some experience can do for a song.

Studio Upgrade a Bit?

XXII-22 is now API equipped... and the Lynx Aurora 16 rounds out the front-end a bit!

What does that mean to you, the client? It means you can come into the studio and be damn sure you are using the finest audio gear around. No compromises man.

ATB on the radio!

One of the bands in the ol' Clients section, A Time Between, is on 95.1/100.7fm getting some airplay. Good stuff! A first for XXII-22 Productions.

Also, keep a look out for a promo cd from the studio within the next month or so. We're working on some cool tunes we're very proud of and think would be a good display of what we can do here at the studio.

Maggie Kaminski

I've put up a new song at the bottom of the Clients section. It's fairly different than the normal rock bands we've produced. Maggie Kaminski is a great singer who did everything in Polish. No idea was what said the entire time... Check it out.

New Layout

It was time for a change. The new layout reflects the studio's vibe a lot more. A relaxed atmosphere that you want to hang out in and create. It's pretty comfy and I hope the new look here portrays that to you. If you want to come see it in person, shoot us an e-mail.

Oh yea, all of the tracks in the Ontology section of the Clients section are brand spankin' new masters done by Chuck Carvalho.

Releases and Upgrades

Man, it's been some busy days at the studio.
A Time Between has been finished for a few weeks now and are getting their ducks in a row before their CD release party. Recording these guys was some good times and waaayyy too many beers while trying to concentrate! But nonetheless, it turned out to be God's favourite sound in the end.

We picked up another Delta 1010. Now we have more than enough simultaneous tracks for recording drums and/or full bands. Good stuff indeed.

Then came the big-time improvement. After many talks with Glenn from Gik Acoustics we pulled the trigger on a rather large amount of acoustic treatment material. Acoustic treatment is a tricky devil. You can't show it off to most of your would-be clients due to the lack of flashy knobs and buttons (or the word 'Neve' or 'API' to the gearheads out there). But it's perhaps more important to the mixerman behind the desk. He or she cannot perform their job without knowing that the noise coming from the monitoring system is actually what is supposed to be heard. You can't dial in the bass when your mixing position in your control room is the location of a 200hz dip in the frequency spectrum... but anywho enough of that jibber-jabber. The point is, help is on the way and pics will be put up once it's installed.

I also have been mentioned on the Real Traps website in the customer testamonial section for their 'Portable Vocal Booth', which XXII-22 Productions utilizes in tracking. Oh yea, and we got another SM57. Can never go wrong there!
